Calculating the exact number of days between two dates, or determining a precise age, sounds simple — but the details matter. Calendar systems have irregular month lengths, leap years every four years (with exceptions), and time zones that shift dates. A manual calculation is easy to get wrong. DateCalc handles all of this automatically, giving you accurate results for any date range from centuries in the past to the far future.
Age calculation in particular requires care. Simply subtracting years gives an approximate answer, but the precise age in years, months, and days depends on whether the birthday has occurred yet in the current year, how many days are in each month between the dates, and whether any February 29th birthdays fall in non-leap years. DateCalc accounts for all of these edge cases.
All calculations on DateCalc run entirely in your browser using JavaScript. No dates you enter are sent to any server. The tool works offline after the initial page load, and your personal dates — birthdays, anniversaries, medical dates — remain completely private.
Date calculators are used across many areas of daily life and professional work. In legal and financial contexts, contract durations, payment deadlines, and statute of limitations periods all depend on precise day counts. In medicine, gestational age, drug dosing schedules, and treatment durations require accurate date arithmetic. In project management, milestone planning and deadline tracking rely on knowing exact working days between dates.
On a personal level, date calculators help with planning events, tracking fitness goals, calculating how long until a vacation, or simply satisfying curiosity about how many days you have been alive. The countdown timer is particularly popular for weddings, graduations, and retirement dates — where watching the days tick down adds a sense of anticipation.
One of the most common needs in business is calculating working days — the number of days excluding weekends. This matters for delivery estimates, invoice payment terms, project deadlines, and HR leave calculations. DateCalc's Days Between calculator shows both the total calendar days and the number of working days (Monday through Friday). Note that public holidays vary by country and are not automatically subtracted — you can adjust the result manually based on your local calendar.
How is age calculated exactly?
Age is calculated by counting complete years from the birth date to the target date, then remaining months, then remaining days. Leap years and varying month lengths are handled correctly.
What counts as a work day?
Work days exclude Saturdays and Sundays. Public holidays are not subtracted as they vary by country — you can adjust the result manually.
Is my data sent to a server?
No. All calculations run in your browser with JavaScript. No data leaves your device.
Is DateCalc free?
Yes, completely free. No registration, no limits, no watermarks — ever.
